Prayer Ministry for Our Nation and Our Leaders Our Invitation: Would you join us in a grass-roots prayer initiative for our nation? Our Goal: Our goal is that our country would emerge from this financial crisis a strong, praying Christian nation which is politically and financially sound and responsive to God’s call and direction for us corporately and individually. Thought: The people of our nation must actively turn to God in response to this crisis; therefore we want to reach out to all churches in a grassroots effort for daily, consistent prayer for our nation. Organization: One person in each church would seek 7 people in their church to pray. Each pray-er would cover one day per week using their own personal schedule and habits to keep the prayer up front in their lives on their specific day. Example: Someone who travels throughout their day would use stoplights or road signs as their cue or reminder to lift up their prayer continuously throughout the day. A coffee drinker would put a reminder note by their coffee cup. It would be wonderful to use the number 7 here because of its prominence in the Bible. It is entirely possible that those of us dedicated to this prayer ministry for one day per week will find a call to pray continuously throughout the week. Nevertheless, it is important for this ministry to be consistent. Our commitment will be easiest to remember through a weekly cycle. If each person who agrees to pray in this way would pass the idea on to 7 more people, then our prayer for our nation would spread quickly throughout our nation. The Prayer: Pray for President Obama, his cabinet, and each member of congress as well as other decision makers throughout our nation; that they will hear God’s word as they make decisions about our nation’s economy; that they will make decisions that allow Americans to return to work and provide for their families thus maintaining the dignity of parents and insuring that children have sufficient food and health insurance; that our elderly will live with adequate food and dignity; that our nation will emerge as a strong praying Christian nation. Regardless of possible differences among churches and individuals, the goal would be for all churches in the United States to cover this issue in prayer every single day. Thank you for your consistent prayer. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) |
